Sustainable ESG Leader Course

Sustainable ESG Leadership Course

2nd Cycle University Innovation Support Program

As part of the second cycle of the University Innovation Support Project, Hanyang University's Global Social Innovation Team is carrying out the 17 SDGs-based ESG and social innovation-type programs to fulfill the strategic task of the mid- to long-term development plan, 'University contributing to sustainable social development (Social in ESG)'. Accordingly, the Global Social Innovation Team has established the 'Sustainable ESG Leader Course' non-majors program to provide education on ESG. It aims to foster creative and socially innovative talents who can contribute to the creation of an ESG management culture and social development through professional and practical ESG education. In 2023, the Sustainable ESG Leader Course was operated from the 4th to the 7th semester, and invited expert lecturers who are doing ESG-related work in the field to share their experiences, provide practical training, and job skills enhancement training according to the key topics of each semester, contributing to high satisfaction of participants and building an ESG-based curriculum.

What our Sustainable ESG Leader Course students have said

Choi, 4th year, Department of Apparel
"Every class has theory and practice (workshops), so it's not just a one-sided class, and I liked the interactive class atmosphere. Also, there are many places in the fashion industry that use eco-friendly as a front instead of out of sincerity. There aren't many places that pursue sustainability, but 'Record' is a brand that was created by a large company, Kolon, to truly pursue eco-friendly and recycling, so it was nice to take a planning lecture from a brand that is serious about eco-friendly and recycling.“

Yoo, 5th year, Department of Policy Studies
"Having someone who works in the field explain ESG and how it's increasingly being incorporated into investments gave me a better understanding of what it is, and I was able to see examples of different companies and how ESG is being incorporated into them. I was impressed that you didn't just say 'good is good,' but that it's a strategy that we need to adapt in order to survive in the marketplace going forward.“

Joo, 6th year, Department of Instructional System Design and Corporate Education Research
"It was good to get a general understanding of the Design Thinking process. I wish the Design Thinking Facilitator course included programs that work in school and businesses, not just with children and youth. As a facilitator training program, there was some confusion between the role of a participant and a facilitator when it came to participating in the Design Thinking process and acting as a facilitator. I enjoyed the experience as a participant in Design Thinking, but I would have liked to have had more time to demonstrate and think about my role as a facilitator due to the short time available.“

Oh, 7th year, Department of Finance and Management
"I really enjoyed each class because I got to meet and talk to ESG practitioners from different fields that I wouldn't normally get to meet. The projects with my teammates were also fun because we came up with a lot of various ideas and it went well. Answer. One of the best things is good "communication". It was great because the incumbents gave us their business cards and told us to feel free to contact them if we needed anything, so it was a natural opportunity to communicate with them. Also, not only was communication good with the lecturers but also with the management team. They were always looking out for us every hour to make sure we were comfortable, so we were able to participate in the class.“
